Dr. Maria Dona, DMD, MSD, DMSc after completing her Romanian dental degree in 2002, received a full scholarship to Boston University earning her Master of Science Degree in Oral Biology. She continued her training at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2006 and was awarded a certificate in Periodontology and Implantology as well as the Doctor of Medical Science degree in Oral Biology. In 2010 Dr. Dona continued her studies at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she was accepted into the Advanced Standing Program receiving her DMD degree. Dr. Dona is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has been actively involved in basic and clinical research. She authored and co-authored numerous papers as well as a book in clinical periodontology and has presented her work at several dental conferences. She is an active member of several professional associations including the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, Harvard Odontological Society, American Academy of Dental Sciences, and Academy of Laser Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and its constituent organizations, including the Merrimack Valley District Dental Society. As a recipient of a "Ten Under 10" award from the MDS in 2014, Dr. Dona was recognized as one of the top ten dentists in the state of Massachusetts, who have been in practice fewer than ten years, for her significant contribution to the profession and excellence in both dental care and service to the dental community. In addition, Dr. Dona received the "2017 Top Dentist" award as chosen by their peers featured in Boston magazine. Dr. Dona lives in Southern New Hampshire with her husband, and they are the proud parents of sons Matthew & Justin. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and outdoor activities, such as hiking, canoeing, and skiing.
